Music was one of the few things that we were able to enjoy in 2020. With quarantines, masks and working from home, people needed something to look forward to more than ever, and these artists delivered big time. The choices for album of the year sparked concern from fans due to some snubs of very popular artists. Most notably, Halsey, The Weeknd and Fiona Apple were snubbed for album of the year despite having very popular albums released in 2020. However, the artists who did receive a nod are very deserving. Here are a few predictions for which artist will pick up the win this year.

Hollywood’s Bleeding by Post Malone:

This album was released just after the Grammy cut-off in 2019. It received a Metacritic score of 79/100 and was #1 on the Billboard hot 100 for 5 consecutive weeks. While Post Malone didn’t exactly branch out from his familiar sounds, this album will still impress any fan.

Future Nostalgia by Dua Lipa:

In just her second album, Dua Lipa impressed music critics earning a 88/100 Metacritic rating, although the album only reached #4 on Billboard. This album has been hailed by many as an instant pop classic. There’s no doubt that pop fans will be talking about this album for a very long time.

Black Pumas (self-titled):

This album was originally released in 2019, so only the deluxe version is nominated this year. Black Pumas was nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammy’s last year. The album as a Metacritic score of 77/100, but the album itself only barely entered the Billboard top 200.

Folklore by Taylor Swift:

A clear favorite for Album of the Year, Folklore has impressed fans everywhere who just knew Taylor Swift as a pop princess. This time around she chose a more mellow vibe with this pop-folk album. It received a Metacritic score of 88/100 and spent 8 (nonconsecutive) weeks at #1 on the Billboard top 200.

Though Folklore and Future Nostalgia seem like more obvious choices for Album of the Year, each of these artists have put forward great albums that we have fallen in love with throughout quarantine. Who do you think will win this year?
